There are a couple of essential ‘must have’ Mammut items that we love, so here’s all the technical information that you’ll need to know about the key pieces that we highly recommend!

If you’re planning an alpine trip over the summer, you should definitely check out the Mammut Haute Route Pant.  Yes, they’re aptly named after the well known Haute Route, which traverses from the Chamonix Valley to Zermatt.  The Haute Route Pant is a very adaptable mountaineering pant, as is can be used for skiing, hill walking and climbing.  The pants are a ‘jack of all trades’ really, made with Mammuts DRYtech 3 Layer Stretch with SOFtech Doubleweave, to give you a robust and durable fabric with insulating properties.  These mountaineering pants also have crampon protection with reinforced material and articulated knees for freedom of movement.

As the end of the 2012 winter season draws to a close we managed to get one last week or riding in.  This week we were invited to Morzine to test ride some of the Burton Snowboard 2013 hardware.

We were promised good spring conditions for the end of April and this was confirmed as it had snowed a lot in the last two weeks.  The first day out saw great piste conditions that would have been good for any day of the season, let alone the end of April.

Then to top it all, literally, it starts snowing and has been snowing for days.  We have been riding powder yesterday, today and definitely tomorrow.  We took this picture this afternoon on the side of the home run.

Most chalets and hotels are empty and there is hardly anyone here.  Fresh tracks until the lifts close on Sunday.  Due to this shocker we are going to be slightly delayed in reporting on what the new Burton Snowboard 2013 products are like.

Thanks to Rude Chalets for looking after us, and thanks to the  Portes du Soleil for our lift passes.

Bouldering has to be the fastest growing part of climbing right now, not to mention the fastest growing sport in general.

This Easter in the forest of Fontainebleau was no exception.  UK, Dutch, Italian, Spanish and German cars outweighed the French by some number.  An almost international climbing festival of epic proportions or just the fact that everybody in Europe had Easter weekend off.

The climbing conditions have been awesome, really dry, no humidity and a touch on the cold side so we have been here for six weeks!

We have met a whole bunch of really good climbers including the two guys in the picture.  Gaz Parry of the UK who has been staying in Font for the last few weeks too as the conditions have been so, so good.

The other ‘rockstar’ in the photo is J P Bouvier, Fontainebleau legend and really cool local.  J P has been putting up some of the forests hardests blocs for many years and is still as keen as ever.  When we met him he had already climbed at Rocher Canon and was dashing off to another site to do some more.

One of the most impressive events of this leg of the trip was Kate Mills onslaught of the 7a’s.  Kate hasnt been climbing much recently…  but she is determined to get stronger.  We had better all watch out then!  Even the Fontainebleau ‘old school’ where impresssed with her skills.

Climbing six days out of seven for weeks on end takes its toll and as fatigue truely has set in we are heading to Morzine to ride the last week of the season.  Ride snowboards that is, the cycle and MTB season hasnt even started yet.

Apparantly its snowing, not bad for the end of April.  Mind you it has been a great season for big dumps and fresh tracks.

We will bring you news of Morzine soon and especially the new 2013 Burton Snowboard gear we have been invited to test ride.

Here is the bike we have all been waiting for, the new 2012 Lapierre Zesty 914.  As usual we get the first drop of this new bike into the UK.  If you pre seasoned one your bike is on its way, if you didnt you will be waiting until the next 914s arrive from France.

We had enough time to run our video cam over this Lapierre Zesty 914 2012.  We have just had our third drop of Lapierre Zesty 514 2012 and Lapierre Zesty 714 2012 this week and have been working hard to get them all out to those of you who have orders in.  We have very limited free stock, literally as soon as theyarrive in a box someone is ther eto jump on it and say ‘its mine’.  As the UKs Lapierre Specialists we still have access to almost all sizes in the entire Zesty family.

This is the Lapierre Zesty we have been waiting for.  The new geometry, the new spec.  As usual with lapierre carbon bikes there are delays with production.

This year we were told delivery would be in October 2011 and then all of a sudden it was moved to the end of January 2012, meaning that realistically they would be in the shops for February 2012.
